The Pelicot Case at the Deutsches Theater: Open doors rushed

Director Ildikó Gáspár transforms Kleist's "Marquise von O..." into a documentary collage of real rape cases. It features a top-class cast and is very well-intentioned.
Since last year, everyone has undoubtedly heard the shocking and astonishing story of Gisèle Pelicot . It is known that, after almost forty years of marriage, her own husband abused her in a manner whose ruthlessness reveals more than just a pathological isolated incident. For over ten years, this man not only drugged his wife hundreds of times without her knowledge and then sexually abused her, but also offered her for rape to dozens of other men, whom he seemingly easily recruited in the wider neighborhood around Avignon and on the internet, while filming the violence himself.
