Colombian Juan de Castilla suffers two very serious gorings in Bayonne

Colombian bullfighter Juan de Castilla suffered two very serious gorings yesterday in the French bullring in Bayonne, from which he is recovering at the Belharra clinic in that city.
Although there has been no medical report, prohibited by the legislation of the neighboring country, the bullfighter's manager, Jesús Salas, has told the Aplausos website that he has been operated on for "two serious gorings, one of them with two trajectories, one of 25 cm in the back of the left thigh next to the gluteus and a second trajectory of 10, and a second goring that is the most worrying and strongest, close to the anus, ascending upwards."
The accident occurred while he was muleting the first bull of the afternoon, belonging to the Araúz de Robles ranch, and he cut off an ear after killing it after the goring. Juan de Castillo walked into the infirmary on his own two feet, from where he was taken to the nearest hospital, where he underwent surgery and spent the night in the intensive care unit.
Salas added, "The vascular surgeon came this morning and just told me that the other goring, the one ascending toward the anus, was also 25 centimeters long, the same length as the one in the thigh. Now the doctors have said we'll have to wait for the next 48 hours to examine the abdomen and see how it's progressing."
Jesús Salas emphasized that "it was a miracle; the doctor told us again that he was very lucky because, above all, in the second upward blow, the horn grazed his anus, femoral artery, and sciatic nerve, coming within millimeters of them, but not affecting them."
"I was able to see him this morning, and the first thing he asked was when the next bullfight was. He was due to fight tomorrow in Cuéllar, which, logically, is impossible. He has two more dates left, Dax and Madrid, and he'll do everything possible to be there, but we can't guarantee anything right now because this was just an initial examination, and we'll have to wait and see how he progresses."
