Great reception for 'Teatreros', the award for the best amateur theater text in Catalonia in 2025.

Teatreros , the award sponsored by La Vanguardia that seeks the best original amateur theater script in Catalonia in 2025, has sparked significant interest in the Catalan theater community. This award, which has the collaboration of Reale Seguros and the support of the Federation of Amateur Theater Groups of Catalonia (FGATC), will be awarded based on all original scripts premiered this year and received before October 6.
This initiative reflects Catalonia's long tradition of amateur theater, an activity that boasts hundreds of companies that bring together thousands of amateurs and professionals who offer numerous performances each year. This tradition is alive and well and generates a wealth of cultural offerings locally.
The text must be original and have premiered during 2025 in any theater in Catalonia. Therefore, La Vanguardia intends, together with Teatreros , to recognize the quality and voluntary work of the groups of actors, directors, playwrights, and all personnel linked to the theater scene, with the collaboration of Reale Seguros and the support of the FGATC.
The rules for submitting the award, as dozens of authors have already done, stipulate that the text must be original, have premiered this year 2025 in any theater in Catalonia, and must be sent to [email protected] before October 6, 2025, indicating the author's details, a contact phone number or email address, the theater company, and the venues where it has been performed. Scripts may also be accompanied by videos or teasers promoting the works submitted for the award.
A jury composed of members of the FGATC and specialized journalists from La Vanguardia will select three finalists from the submitted scripts, and readers of the newspaper will be able to vote for their favorite. At the end of November, on a date yet to be determined, the winner will be announced, and a ceremony will be held to award the prize for the best original amateur theater script in Catalonia.
The president of the FGATC, Antoni Font, expressed his enthusiasm when this initiative by La Vanguardia was presented. This initiative recognizes the work of a sector that brings together more than 10,000 people and more than 300 amateur theater groups in Catalonia, whose performances attract one and a half million spectators annually. The organization, presided over by Font, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and received the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2010. For his part, Jordi Juan, director of La Vanguardia, stated that amateur theater is part of the cultural soul of Catalan society and emphasized that giving it visibility is an act of justice to an activity that has been and continues to be a school for professionals on the theater scene.
Finally, from Reale Seguros, Jordi Rosich, regional director for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, stated that support for this initiative is part of the essence of a company that supports its territory through mediation, and that it is aware of the importance of popular culture and helping to promote it so that it endures over time.
