Kendrick Lamar's Bogotá concert canceled: complaints from attendees who said they weren't allowed in

This Saturday, September 27, American rapper Kendrick Lamar was scheduled to perform at Vive Claro in Bogotá; however, just hours before the start of his Grand National Tour, the atmosphere inside the venue became tense.

According to Páramo Presenta, the organizing company, the event was canceled " due to logistical difficulties at the promoter and the venue."

EL TIEMPO heard firsthand the testimonies of those who waited for the doors to open so those who arrived early in the day could enter the venue.

According to Páramo, the company in charge of the concert's logistics, the gates for attendees were scheduled to open around 4:00 p.m. However, social media users reported that four hours later, they still hadn't been authorized to enter, which led to altercations in the various lines.

Sources close to this outlet confirmed that the organization at Vive Claro was appalling: "There's a lot of disorder," "Everything is disorganized," "There's poor management."

Likewise, social media users expressed their dissatisfaction with the logistics: "Everything is wrong with the logistics for the Kendrick Lamar Bogotá entrance," "There's so much chaos at Vive Claro." Some were even anticipating the event's cancellation: "It's presumed the Kendrick Lamar concert in Bogotá is canceled."

Around 8:30 p.m., half an hour before Lamar was scheduled to take the stage, Páramo explained that: "The Grand National Tour performance scheduled for tonight has been postponed. The artist was ready to perform."

"In the event of a refund, it will be processed automatically through the official Ticketmaster ticketing system, using the original payment method. In the case of purchases made through third parties, please contact them directly," the organizing company added.

The official statement ends with an apology to those who were hoping to see the artist, who had previously been in Bogotá for the 2019 Estéreo Picnic Festival. "We understand the frustration this situation has caused. Live Nation, Ocesa, and Páramo Presenta apologize to the fans and the artist for any inconvenience caused."

On the other hand, fans claimed that the artist had arrived in Bogotá on the evening of September 25th. A day later, the rapper was spotted in the country's capital, touring ARTBO, the Bogotá International Art Fair , located at the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center .
