The Colegio Libre de Emeritus presents the Master's Degree in Contemporary Humanities

Nebrija University and the Colegio Libre de Emérito have joined forces to showcase the latest challenge they face: the Master's Degree in Contemporary Humanities. Darío Villanueva , former director of the Royal Spanish Academy, explained yesterday at the presentation of this new proposal that they aim to " address certain developments that empower widespread ignorance , which sometimes also lead to the empowerment of stupidity itself. This Master's Degree is not designed to definitively correct ignorance, much less stupidity, but it is our contribution." The proposal is based on a two-year curriculum that will cover: culture, rights, society, the human condition, science, technology, and art in four modules.

Fernando Savater , philosopher and writer, emphasizes the importance of humanism as "knowledge and poetry," and that it encompasses almost all challenges. This is a maxim from the optimistic professor—not a person—who encourages students to continue in the classroom, as he believes he has an obligation to transmit knowledge that may be important for life. This approach, that of oral transmission, is key to the philosophy of Socrates and a reference for Villanueva, director of this first class of humanists.

The Colegio Libre de Emeritus presents this new master's degree as part of its historic renovation to reach and make itself known to a wider audience.

Responding to current needs, they will offer a hybrid approach. Classes will begin on October 20th with a diverse, university-level, yet cross-disciplinary student body . The goal is to reflect, reclaim the humanities in their most traditional sense, and offer answers to today's issues.
