Why Taylor Swift Wasn’t Seen at Selena Gomez’s Rumored Bachelorette or Travis Kelce’s Premiere

Two important people in Taylor Swift’s life, her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and longtime friend Selena Gomez, had special events this weekend, but the singer managed to stay under the radar and was not seen at either.

Gomez was photographed yesterday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with a group of girlfriends, sparking rumors that she was on her bachelorette trip. Swift wasn’t among the women snapped on the yacht, though it’s possible she was elsewhere, away from the paparazzi’s lenses.

She and Gomez are skilled at keeping their relationship private. As Gomez explained in WSJ magazine in January 2020, “There’s so much of my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because we don’t necessarily feel the need to post about everything we do. She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected. Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”

That same day, Kelce celebrated the release of The Kingdom, a docuseries about his NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. His parents, Ed and Donna Kelce, joined him at the premiere. No reports surfaced of Swift being there, but she was on people’s minds. The film’s director, Kristen Lappas, told reporters the singer was “very supportive” of the project and appears in it. “[She] approved all of her image and likeness,” Lappas said.

On the red carpet, Ed told People that his youngest son’s happiness comes from Swift. “There’s no question about it,” he said. He called them “two people obviously very much in love.”

Swift is able to keep her whereabouts private when she chooses, having spent much of 2025 out of the public eye. Her choice to avoid being spotted at Gomez and Kelce’s events may reflect a desire to protect those relationships and keep the spotlight on her loved ones.

The singer will step back into the limelight later this fall when she releases her album The Life of a Showgirl on October 3.
