"The place to compose? The living room, with the shutters closed": the Proust questionnaire of the Limiñanas, in the shade, in their south

Writers, musicians, actors, dancers, fashion designers, filmmakers… All summer long, artists are taking part in this game for franceinfo Culture. Today, The Limiñanas, Lionel and Marie, the most rock duo in France.
Meet at high school in Cabestany, Pyrénées-Orientales. Open a record store, play in a string of rock bands in Perpignan, including Les Gardiens du Canigou (you had to dare), travel the United States without a dollar, then sign with an American label in Chicago, to become the iconic band of indie and French rock. Here are The Limiñanas , more than fifteen years of garage rock between friendships, tinkering and energy. They love Otis Redding, Iggy Pop and The Brian Jonestown Massacre as much as they do.
Their tribe: Bertrand Belin, Pascal Comelade, Brigitte Fontaine. This sets the tone. To promote their latest album , Faded, they travel the roads of France , Belgium, and Great Britain, where they are adored. But it's in their south. Catalan that they responded to our questionnaire.
Fr anceinfo Culture: This summer, are you more into work or nap, touring or vacation? ? If summer is at work, what will it be? The Limiñanas: This summer, it's touring and studio time for the music for the next film by Patrick Cassir [director of A Marriage Without End ].
On vacation, are you a mountain or beach person? North or south? Walking or "lounging around"? And do you have the same tastes? On vacation, we like the south and the beach. This summer, we're going to Spain for just a week, not far from home, on the Mediterranean coast. We eat, swim, and sleep... But never do any sports.
Let’s talk creation: are you a morning person or an evening person? Very early in the morning. I get up at 4 a.m. most days. I start by answering interviews and emails, and then I continue with what I left unfinished the day before in the studio.
What's your summer music preference: studio or live? In the summer, we prefer the studio. It's like a batcave , a cool cave.
What's the record you still haven't listened to that's missing from your playlist? I bought the latest Jesus and Mary Chain on vinyl, but I haven't had time to listen to it yet.
Your best group memory? A beer in the dressing room at the Trianon in Paris, after leaving the stage, with Bertrand Belin. And also a concert with Pascal Comelade at the Ubu in Rennes, it was completely crazy.
Your worst group nightmare? A concert in Pau, years ago. Between each song, in a deathly silence, someone shouted "Singer, strip off!"
If you were reincarnated as a record or song, which would it be? You're Gonna Miss Me by 13th Floor Elevator. I can listen to it all day.
What song line moves you? "I've been loving you too long to stop now" (Otis Redding)
On the other hand, what song annoys you? All jazz-rock. The complete collection.
And the one who has always been with you? Can't Seem to Make You Mine des Seeds (for Marie) and Louie Louie of the Kingsmen (for Lionel).
What is your dream summer destination? Spain, Costa Blanca, summer.
Where is the place that inspires you to write a song in summer? My living room, shutters closed in front of a movie. I have a small portable studio in a bag next to the sofa. I composed all of Faded [their last album] like that.
What's the question that horrifies you? "Tonight, are you going to give it your all?"
And the one you've never been asked? "On the grill this summer, you prefer merguez, Catalan sausage or longanisse ?"
