THE OPINION OF THE “WORLD” – TO SEE

We knew the screenwriter in the shadow of Jafar Panahi, here is the director. If his name is not known to the general public, the Iranian Nader Saeivar, born in 1975, won the screenplay prize at Cannes, with Jafar Panahi, for Three Faces (2018) . Panahi, who needs no introduction, received the Palme d'Or at the age of 65, in May, for A Simple Accident , after a Golden Lion in Venice for The Circle (2000) , then a Golden Bear in Berlin, for Taxi Tehran (2015) – and a host of other refined works since the Caméra d’or for The White Balloon (1995) .

It was with Panahi that Nader Saeivar found the courage, as he says, to shoot a scathing attack on the Iranian government, The Woman Who Knew Too Much . For the record, Panahi was sentenced in 2010 to six years in prison for "propaganda against the system." Since then, he has managed to circumvent the ban imposed on him from making films for twenty years, by hiding his camera in vehicles ( Taxi Tehran ), by filming at home ( This is not a film , 2011 ), etc. Arrested in July 2022 to serve his sentence, Panahi was released in February 2023 , after announcing his hunger strike.
