Cultural return: artistic excitement at Les Célestins

It was with a legitimate reason for satisfaction that Pierre-Yves Lenoir, current director of the Théâtre des Célestins, presented the next season. “During this season, we had a 93% occupancy rate for our two venues, the main stage and the Célestine! This is a record, a historic figure! It’s a sign that demand is not weakening, despite the difficult context we are experiencing. On the contrary, in fact! Subscriptions are on the rise. And the audience is renewing itself: 25% of spectators welcomed by the Célestins are under 28.”

In addition, the Sang et Or theatre will continue to benefit from significant support from the municipality, as well as from loyal patrons. This privileged situation encourages the Célestins to “open the doors even wider” and to join forces with other partners (Théâtre du Point-du-Jour, Subs, Sens Interdits festival, Ensatt, TNP, etc.), to maintain a real “artistic buzz”.

The associated artists (who create, rehearse and perform at the Célestins) will be present next season.

Thus Tatiana Frolova and her theatre KnAM, Russian artists exiled in Lyon, will say in their next creation, I'm Fine (from October 14 to 25), how much they have anchored themselves there.

After the success of The Art of Joy, Ambre Kahan will stage Santa Park (from December 16 to 27), a play about childhood fears, set in the mysterious world of a funfair. While Valérie Lesort , after The Hilton Sisters, will offer a satirical cabaret, Que d'espoir!, inspired by the Israeli playwright Hanokh Levin, but this will be during the second part of the season, in March 2026.

Among the big names on the international scene, the ever-iconoclastic director Stanislas Nordey will present his scathing version of Feydeau's play, L'Hôtel du Libre-Échange (from November 27 to December 5). While the enfant terrible of the Argentinian scene, Guillermo Cacace , will be performing Anton Chekhov's The Seagull in Spanish.

But the Théâtre des Célestins is also open to artists from our region. Nicolas Ramond will be present at the start of the season with his new show, Biclou (September 20 and 21), a poetic, humorous, and philosophical ode to cycling, which will take place on the forecourt of the Célestins. Freewheeling!
