Lyon in grand parade mode for the launch of the Dance Biennale

The Dance Biennale officially kicks off this Saturday, and it's counting on its traditional parade to get moving right away this Sunday. The grand choreographic parade will unfold between Place des Terreaux and Bellecour alongside 3,000 amateur dancers who have been accompanied for months by professional choreographers and artists.

The theme of this edition, "recycled dances," is intended to encourage the mixing of genres and the hybridization of styles. Choreographers have been asked to partner with a specialist in a dance other than their own.

Thus Kadia Faraux, who comes from hip-hop, teamed up with a flamenco choreographer from Barcelona and Abdou N'Gom sought out the common points between hip-hop dance and all the African-American dances of the 20s and 30s such as Lindy-hop or the Charleston.

The result will be revealed on Sunday from 4 p.m. on the Lyon peninsula with the nine groups that will be the heart of this 15th parade.
