In Salernes, the Terra Rosa museum and the municipality are launching the Artists' Tour, to highlight potters and ceramists.

Discover the town's DNA—this is what the Artists' Tour in Salernes offers. Organized by the Terra Rossa Museum and the municipality, these walks are a wonderful opportunity to meet local artisans. Guided by artist Gauthier Jansen, a mischievous firebrand, the group begins the tour with a quick visit to the museum. We joined them.
Alain Vagh welcomes these wonderful people to his "Terrain Vagh," a former train depot transformed into a workshop-garage. He stores astonishing vehicles there, all covered with pieces of ceramic. The owner of one of the oldest terracotta factories in the town, he insists: " Nothing here is for sale. I might give access to this workshop one day, but by appointment only." The curious are fascinated, but the tour continues!
Ghislain Lamerand knows how to recognize the colors of his creations blindfolded. Guide Gauthier puts him to the test, and the group is fascinated: the potter passes the test with flying colors! His ceramics, inspired by Provençal tradition, can be placed on the table or in the garden, and his glazed tiles decorate the floor or walls. " Come on, let's continue ," says Gauthier.
Anne-Laure created her first workshop in Salernes in a vintage 1930s gas pump. The passageway, which sets the tone, leads to the workshop next to the shop brimming with fantastic and unusual objects. A graduate of fine arts, the artist " also offers clay workshops, ceramic aperitifs, drawing workshops, and brush calligraphy workshops ." The group captures the creative spirit of the space before leaving for another.
The Alchemist, then a specialistRecently settled in Salernes, Didier Spenser and his wife offer acrylic works on canvas, created by the owner of the premises. " I recently started collaborating with a ceramicist to present portraits painted on a clay frame," explains the artist. After a short question-and-answer session, the group continues along the same street, heading towards other horizons.
Angela Campanile introduces herself: " I was born in Naples, arrived in Salerno in 2021, and my creations can be described as ceramic embroidery. Because before creating lighting, jewelry, and wall ceramics, I was an embroiderer!" The ceramist also creates and handcrafts earthenware. She specializes in the majolica technique.
Upcoming artist tours: June 7 and 13, July 19, August 1 and 15, September 13. Information and registration at the Terra Rossa Museum at 04.98.10.43.90.
