The success of French cinema is due to its highly structured financing tool. The American president could help Hollywood studios challenge this.

Like every year, thanks to the Cannes Film Festival , films and culture have taken over the news. It is one of those delightful French exceptions: we are the only country in Europe that has managed to keep its cinema alive and celebrates it so loudly. Alive means that it is popular, that the cinematographic genres are varied. But also that it is economically attractive: 309 films were approved last year, for an investment of 1.4 billion euros. This is the secret of French success. Our ecosystem knows how to produce highly successful fictions like "Les Tuche", blockbusters that appeal abroad, like "The Count of Monte Cristo" , and works that appeal to festivals, film buffs and the general public, like "Twenty Gods" .

This mix allows French attendance (181.3 million admissions in 2024) to be the highest on the continent, and our vast network of 2,052 cinemas to cover the entire territory. The 7th art thus remains in France – as in the United States, India or China – major, while being an important economic activity.
