Michael Jackson's iconic sock worn during a concert in Nice sold for 6,200 euros

A sock worn by Michael Jackson on July 27, 1997, during a concert in Nice was sold for 6,200 euros at an auction held Wednesday by the Hôtel des ventes de Nîmes.
The "iconic" object, which was quite faded, was found at the end of the concert "next to the artist's dressing room, by a technician who was working on site," Aurore Illy, auctioneer for the auction house, told AFP.
"We are really looking at an exceptional object, even a cult object for Michael Jackson fans and we have received numerous expressions of interest," she emphasized.
Embroidered with sparkling square crystals, the sock was placed in a frame, accompanied by the technician's "period backstage pass," the auction website Interencheres said.
Matching the iconic glove worn by the pop icon during his "HIStory World Tour," the accessory was reportedly worn " on the tracks 'Beat it Live' and 'Billie Jean' where Michael excels at the moonwalk," according to the same site.
First put up for sale in June, the item failed to find a buyer. With a starting price of €2,500, it was estimated at between €3,000 and €4,000.
