The Rencontres de la Photo (Photo Encounters) opens in Arles this Monday, July 7th, for its 56th edition, dedicated to commitment, championing diversity, inclusion, and mixed-race memories through "unruly images." During a visit yesterday, the Minister of Culture announced the launch of a practical guide to guarantee creative freedom.

Nearly 160,000 visitors are expected to discover 46 exhibitions, spread across 27 locations, mobilizing 50 curators and 170 artists across 12,000 m² of exhibition space until October 5. Under the theme of "unruly images," this edition aims to bring out alternative voices in the face of dominant or reactionary narratives, in an international context marked by the rise of nationalism and identity withdrawal.
