Record broken for ZEVENT, the charity marathon for streamers, which exceeds 11 million euros

Record broken for ZEVENT, the charity marathon for streamers, which exceeds 11 million euros

In a windowless room at the back of the convention center, each behind their screen, around forty streamers take on challenges for their community.

This year, for the first time, they were joined by more than 250 online streamers.

Costumes, a boxing ring, live cooking recipes, karaoke, and at very regular intervals, streamers shout "thank you!!!!" in time with the donations that appear on their screens. "Thank you Julie for your 2 euros, thank you Anonymous for your 500 bucks!!!!!!!!"

Among this year's challenges, host Samuel Etienne (Questions pour un champion) had his back tattooed for several hours in front of the camera.

Streamer Marie Lopez, aka EnjoyPhoenix, told AFP: "The pace is super intense. Going live for 2 or 3 hours is fun, but it's true that over 48 hours, without much sleep and the ambient noise, it's really very special."

Around 8:30 p.m., organizer ZeratoR announced that they had crossed the 10 million mark as streamers threw themselves into a ball pit under a shower of confetti.

The final amount will need to be added to the proceeds from purchases in the ZEVENT shop.

In 2024, the previous edition raised more than 10 million euros for five associations fighting against poverty.

Interviewed by AFP, Frédéric Theret, development director at the Fondation de France, who has been supporting ZEVENT for three years to manage the pre-selection of associations on the theme decided by the streamers, assures: "Our objective is to guarantee each donor the impact of the donations made during this operation."

This year, this marathon will raise funds for associations working for patients and caregivers, including the League Against Cancer, the French Association of Caregivers, Le rire médecin (hospital clowns), and Sourire à la vie (supportive care for children with cancer).

With the association l'Envol, for example, "we will succeed in offering holiday camps to children who are hospitalized for long-term stays. Starting next year, 700 children will benefit from free stays," explains Mr. Theret.
