Dominique Billiet and Gwyn Griffin have exhibited their works at the truffle market in Sorges. Paintings and sculptures are on display until Sunday, August 31.

Dominique Billiet, born in 1950 in Merville in the North, completed his primary and secondary education in Béthune in the Pas-de-Calais region, then entered the Faculty of Dental Surgery in Lille. An animal sculptor working in bronze, "I design some in resin because casting is quite expensive," the sculptor explains. "I was a dentist, so I used my work tools and dental resin to bring my sculptures to life," adds the man who says he loves animals, which gives movement to his works, graceful, touching and powerful.

“I was 6 years old when my father gave me some modeling clay, and it was the beginning of a beautiful love affair with sculpture that has never left me,” he adds. “I never get bored thanks to what has become a passion. In addition, I have been taking care of my large garden since I retired.”

Between softness and harmony

Gwyn Griffin, a resident of Villars, studied painting at the Beaux-Arts and Art History. An English artist born in South Africa, she possesses a subtle touch that allows her to excel in portraiture, primarily oil paintings on canvas. "I originally did portraits, but I moved towards male and female nudes because I wanted to create softness and harmony," the artist insists. "I am also very inspired by nature, the living world."

Gwyin Griffin has several strings to her bow, as she is also a national monument animator at the Château de Puyguilhem in Villars. Currently, some of her paintings are on display in Munich at the Galerie Lau.

The exhibition hall at the truffle market, Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle in Sorges, is open every day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
