The Parisian cultural venue is struggling to recoup the losses associated with its three-month closure, due to the occupation of 450 young migrants. Its teams are working on a scenario for a full reopening in 2026, secured by compensation of €850,000 and a resumption of event activities in 2025.

At 3 bis rue Papin, the Gaîté Lyrique teams are struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This venue, with its " cultural and social " programming, is struggling to emerge from a complicated economic situation. From December 17, 2024, to March 18, the cultural establishment was forced to temporarily close due to its occupation by 450 young migrants who are still homeless . The Gaîté Lyrique estimates the losses caused by this closure at more than three million euros – linked to direct occupancy costs, operating losses due to cancellations, and recourse from partners who are also impacted.
