At the Ischia Global Festival, De Laurentiis honors Gascon and offers her a film with Verdone.

"I've already asked Karla Sofia Gascon to make a film. She's incredibly talented. I've seen Emilia Perez several times and recommended her to everyone." Producer Aurelio De Laurentiis awarded the Spanish actress, the first transgender artist nominated for an Oscar in 2024 after her win at Cannes for Jacques Audiard's film, during the closing event of the 23rd Ischia Global Film & Music Festival . Gascon was joined on stage by his wife, Jacqueline Baudit, president of Napoli Calcio, to present the award to her.
After a week packed with events, the final awards were given to John MacLean, winner of the Ischia – European Director of the Year Award , and American actor Steven Bauer, who performed as a singer. Director Kayla Tabish was named Indie Filmmaker of the Year. Martina Scrinzi, the star of Vermiglio , received the Golden Youth of the Year Award, presented by Irish maestro Jim Sheridan. Giovanni Esposito received the Family Movie of the Year Award for Nero, his acclaimed directorial debut. Lead actress Susy Del Giudice also received a Working Actress of the Year award.
The free screenings of an edition particularly sensitive to social issues in cinema and art also conclude today, addressed in forums chaired by English producer Trudie Styler (ENIT Prize winner) and entirely dedicated to 'solidarity and dialogue between peoples against all forms of oppression'.
The happening, founded and produced by Pascal Vicedomini, is organized with the Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia (honorary president Tony Renis ) and with the support of the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiC and the Campania Region, with the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism and the participation of ENIT together with Givova, Rainbow and Caremar.
