Hate on the net

The Festival èStoria announces a meeting on a forgotten episode of the Shoah: the post on Facebook generates monsters. From the conditioned reflex in Gaza to the chorus of contempt and hatred for Jews. Anti-Semitism is here too

On the same topic:

To get started, type in Facebook: èStoria Bikont Gorizia . You will arrive at the post of the èStoria di Gorizia Festival which announces a meeting focused on an event that took place decades ago in a Polish town. The meeting is entitled “City of the Shoah – Crime and Silence, by Anna Bikont ”. City is the general theme of the èStoria di Gorizia 2025 Festival, Shoah is the theme of the meeting, followed by the title of the book (published in Italy by Einaudi) and the name of the author. The post introduces the event with these words: “Jedwabne, north-eastern Poland, summer 1941: one of the most brutal massacres against the local Jewish population by Polish citizens of different religions took place here. Did they act autonomously or were they incited by the German occupation forces? A case that is still very delicate today and is being treated by a great journalist”. Now, if you want, you can search the web for Jedwabne, or Jan Tomasz Gross, who wrote an important book of which this by Bikont is a sort of complex continuation. It is a useful and enriching search, but for now you can postpone it. For the purposes of this article, just keep in mind the major words encountered so far: Shoah, crime, silence, massacre, Jewish . That's enough. Now let's scroll through the comments to that Facebook post. For your convenience, I'm copying and pasting all the main ones below. I'm only putting the top ones, leaving out the ones at a higher level and the answers. And I'm only putting the texts, leaving out images, links, etc. I'm also leaving out those with a lot of capital letters, not suitable for transposition to printed paper. I'm not putting the names of the authors, because they don't matter; what matters is their words. I'm transcribing them in the order in which I see them on the PC, without having to reconstruct their chronology; in any case, the initial post was published on May 6. To distance them, I put an asterisk at the beginning of each one. Now, hold on tight and let's go: destination Italy . Oh, sorry if I go back a moment, but remember that the original post only mentions Jedwabne, as a location.

*The disgusting comments make me understand how it was possible for the Holocaust to happen in very civilized Europe and many, many remained silent. *In fact, the silence that reigns in our media regarding the genocide of the Palestinians is something that makes you think… *An ever-present question. Did Israeli citizens know or did they pretend not to know about the massacre of the Palestinians by their government? *The events of 1941 are very interesting but I would have focused on the Holocaust that you are inflicting on the Palestinians: a genocide before the eyes of the world. *Maybe it's not the time… respect Gaza that you are destroying. *Without shame. They still present themselves to the world as victims. Only the world sees what they are doing in Palestine. *Gaza, the Holocaust perpetrated by those who have forgotten having suffered it. *What is happening to the Palestinians is a massacre and almost no one talks about it. *I am not interested at all. *Very current, the silence in which crimes against humanity have been committed for decades in Palestine. *The Shoah is today, it is not a brand you claim the exclusive rights to! *January 27, a day of remembrance for those who have forgotten what they have suffered and are now doing it to others. Shame on the state of Israel . *In fact, they have forgotten what they have suffered and then done it to other peoples... *Many Israelis have forgotten, seeing what they have done and continue to do... *After 80 years, History repeats itself, this time in reverse... are the Israelis aware of this? Or are they still in the Right now?! *Is it possible to follow the meeting remotely? *I don't give a damn about Israel. *But enough, think about the present and the future. *What was the bombing of Dresden? Charity? *But at your event will you also talk about the genocide that THE CRIMINAL BENJAMIN NETANYAHU is carrying out against the Palestinians in Gaza? I am asking for a friend. *the same crime and the same criminal silence that surrounds the extermination of the Palestinians. *but shame on you.

*Today is Gaza. *They killed you to steal your homes! Did you learn from them what you do in Palestine? *Of course, the fact that genocides go around playing the victims is almost ridiculous if it weren't for the fact that it's dramatic. But you know, poor things, they like to play the martyrs, they've been wallowing in it for years. *Ah, yes, the crimes that the cowards want to forget, like Gaza, using story-telling tears. Go fuck yourself, no? *The silence of the (corrupt) world press on the genocide of the Palestinians carried out by the Khazars is appalling. *You are worse, it's been going on in Palestine since 1945! *In jedwabne the dear disgusting Polish anti-Semites said that the massacre was carried out by the Russians, the truth was found out about 20 years ago. *Publishing an event of the Shoah at a time when the children of the victims of that time have become the worst and cruelest executioners the world has ever known is quite provocative. You are anti-Semitic! *You are not credible... *The Jews are a bad race. They should be diametrically opposed, instead they behave like their old executioners. I hate terrorism, of course, but a civilization is not superior if in order to repress something dangerous and unacceptable it has to exterminate entire innocent families. *In Poland there has always been a strong anti-Semitic sentiment that is independent of German influences. *You have a face of sh... with what courage do you talk about the Shoah when the victims of yesterday are doing worse in Palestine. *Shoah ritual sacrifice towards which God? Anyway, in the Nazi labor camps there were Romanian homosexual political dissidents Jews the real ones etc, the Ashkenazis were the Hitler executioners of Ashkenazi blood. *The Jews today are no longer credible: MURDERERS. *Child Killers, w 1943 . *You don't enchant anyone with these stories anymore, everyone has understood who you really are. You've been breaking the balls of the entire world for 2000 years. *Go sell peanuts. You are garbage and I hope you go back to the ghettos... but not all of them. The rest at 360. *Oh poor Jews, go fuck yourself and be ashamed. *Jews? If you know them you avoid them.

*But the showers don't work? *Today, May 24, the initiative 50,000 SHROUDS FOR GAZA (ref. prof. Tomaso Montanari): let's hang white sheets at the window or on the balcony. We are not accomplices of Netanyahu. This inhuman extermination must end. *Since the Jews have been committing the most atrocious crimes, surpassing the Germans of 80 years ago in wickedness... there has been a constant media bombardment on the Shoah... as if to justify the genocide they are committing... thank goodness people are less stupid than they think. *The silence of the Israelis on the extermination of the Palestinians by bombs and by hunger and thirst, certainly. A current and horrifying topic. *I hope he also talks about the Palestinians in Gaza, about the extermination of a people, about the use of hunger to kill them all. I hope he says how much hypocrisy there is in Europe today, how much complicit silence from the governments on the blood of the Palestinians, about how now as then Europe looked the other way, allowing the "final solution", the same one that the criminal Netanyahu is implementing in Gaza and the West Bank. I hope he says it, otherwise his testimony will be a soulless testimony and will become further support for the evil that the Israeli government is deliberately and consciously doing to a people... let him say it.

*Still with Napoleon's crimes? Why don't you talk about what's happening in Palestine NOW? *Nazis without foreskin / self-styled heirs / of past victims / do as they please / because they find themselves / among bastards equal to them / massacring and deporting / native peoples / endemic vice / of races that / declare themselves superior / because elected / by their shitty god. *Zionist Jews learned well from the Nazis the techniques of genocide. *Free Palestine. *But stop proposing yourselves as victims. You are heartless demons for the crimes against Palestine. Only horrors upon horrors. And you break my balls with something that happened 80 years ago? What you are doing today to the Palestinians takes away all your dignity to talk about your holocaust . Shame! The victims who as soon as they have the chance turn into executioners worse than the Nazis! *History does NOT teach anything at all.. on the contrary.. the extermination of defenseless civilian populations and, let it be clear, absolutely devoid of any responsibility and/or guilt... as is happening today in Palestine, are NOT interesting for the "power" and are hidden, diminished and/or even deliberately denied by those who manage the information. An abomination that always repeats itself in the same way. *The most unfortunate thing is that with the actions of isdra-gele the memory is tarnished the first thing they say is: "but they are doing the same to the Palestinians!"... they are doing the same things to other civilians to demonstrate that the power convinces the populations that there is someone who undermines their security and they must eliminate him!... same modus operandi. To acquire and maintain power I create the problem and then I become the solver of the same problem... killing a part of the population but keeping another mental prisoner and this will always be the way of life of the Jews in istragele, perpetual fear of others... embitterment... indoctrination to violence... an ista-gelian child sees weapons and soldiers from the moment he opens his eyes and thinks it's normal... indoctrinated to the dehumanization of other children called terrorists when they are little if not worse right-wing racism absorbed by a Jew is an aberration!... sure! They live in a country that is economically very well off!... I would say materially well off! but at what cost?!! of their own soul?! *If at the event they only talk about the massacre of the Palestinians at the hands of those butchers, cancer of humanity, I'll come running. *Same thing in Ukraine, study the history of the 20th century, and don't let yourselves be fooled by social media . *Enough. *Gaza!

The overwhelming majority of these comments overwhelms the theme of the meeting (Jedwabne, and by extension the Shoah), and replaces it with that of Gaza/Palestine. Each of them (in these lines I always and only speak of the overwhelming majority) contributes its own pebble or boulder, and in parallel undermines the original theme using the methods of juxtaposition, equalization, downsizing, hierarchization, degradation, removal, cancellation. It is a sort of chorus, apparently spontaneous and truthful, of intolerance, or contempt, or reduction, or relativization, or denial for the Shoah. As a whole it is a collective manifestation of Italian anti-Semitism. I am not saying that this chorus proportionally represents the overall reality of the country; I am saying that it is part of it. It is the expression of a popular, widespread, existing anti-Semitism . If you reread this overwhelming majority of comments with a cool head, you can find echoes or explicit citations of various prejudices fixed in history by Christian anti-Judaism and by 19th and 20th century anti-Semitism: cruel monotheism, spirit of revenge, killing of children, money, power, greed, pretense, etc. etc. And the massive display of shrouds brings to light a death that has become an emblem and a never-ending pre-conciliar controversy on responsibilities. In anti-Semitism there is no such thing as disposal. Everything accumulates, transforms, adapts, innovates, re-intertwines . Nothing strange in this; even Islamophobia and anti-Gypsyism, its dear companions, work like this. In the èStoria post, they only talk about Jedwabne, they only talk about a “small” page of the Shoah in Poland. But an intolerance and a hatred cultivated over the centuries have a capacity for impetuosity that does not stop in the face of three million Polish Jews killed out of three million three hundred thousand.

Nor does it leave any mental space to examine the functioning of the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau, or to ask what those fragments of bones are in the land of Treblinka. Or to reread the history of the bloody deportations of Armenians over a century ago, or the immense massacres in recent Rwanda. These comments do not seek knowledge, and they don't give a damn about lexical appropriateness. Just as they make fun of the fact that there could be a difference between "Jew" and "Israel". What fascinates them is the prospect of a new theory of substitution, after the one supported by a certain Christianity with respect to religious Israel. Yes, I know, even Israelis and/or Jews, on both sides, use words and concepts from the Shoah in a distorted way; but their instrumentalizations are aimed at the fight against other Jews, right or wrong as it may be. Instead, anti-Semites devote a considerable portion of their time to reviewing Jews speaking in public, to feeling their ideas, to examining the mouths that enunciate them, as is done or done in horse or slave markets, to evaluating their usefulness for their own specific speech, and then to proclaim that that thing has already been said by that Jew. The fact is that anti-Judaism has the damned need to (attempt to) remove from the Jews any “specialty,” be it monotheism or the Shoah; and any instrument is good .

Paradoxically, the Jews do not have, of this mania, an equally damned fear, because they know that neither one nor the other (beyond their profoundly different meanings) can be eradicated from them. So where is the problem? And why do I call it a problem? The problem is in the fact that this operation of substitution, of drowning of the Shoah, is a ferocious stab against democracy, anti-fascism, intelligence. Yes, I know, they are big words bloated with rhetoric. But we have those. And their values are the future of all of us, whatever one thinks, whatever one believes. Here, this is my comment on those homegrown comments . Now, if I may and if you can, I suggest you reread those comments once again, and do so keeping in mind what Benito Mussolini is said to have said on October 6, 1938 to his minister Galeazzo Ciano , according to his diary: “Now anti-Semitism is inoculated into the blood of Italians. It will continue to circulate and develop on its own” .
