Trenitalia, Giunti and PreSa present the series 'Salute, Pinocchio!'

The series "Salute, Pinocchio!" was presented today in the FrecciaLounge of the Rome Termini station, an editorial and social initiative created by the network PreSa – Prevenzione e Salute and Giunti Editore, in collaboration with Trenitalia (FS Group). It is a series of comic book manuals on health education, designed to bring the youngest, and not only, closer in a fun and effective way.
The first volume, entitled "Missione Prevenzione", deals with primary prevention and healthy lifestyles and is sponsored by the Fondazione Medicina Sociale e Innovazione Tecnologica (Mesit) and the Federazione Italiana Medici Pediatrici (Fimp). It will be distributed free of charge on board Intercity trains, a Trenitalia brand, and in the main FrecciaLounges in Italy, offering an educational reading opportunity to families and children on the go.
The iconic puppet Pinocchio is the protagonist of these stories that talk about hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, care for the environment and conscious use of technology. With captivating illustrations and informative inserts, the volume alternates illustrated narration and informative insights, accompanied by the column "La voce del Grillo", to explain with simplicity and scientific rigor the good practices for growing up in good health. In closing, games and quizzes allow readers, young and old, to test what they have learned, transforming health education into an interactive and stimulating experience. An educational and light reading for children, parents and grandparents on the go. A concrete example of synergy between culture, health and mobility, with the aim of taking health promotion outside of traditional contexts, making it accessible, transversal and inclusive.
“Pinocchio is an excellence of Italian literature in the world. Aware that prevention represents a fundamental resource for the health of citizens and for the sustainability of our National Health Service, this series was created with the aim of promoting the culture of prevention among the new generations - said Marco Trabucco Aurilio, president of the Mesit Foundation - According to the Italian Publishers Association, Italian children spend on average four times more time in front of a screen than they read on paper. And, according to a meta-analysis by the University of Valencia on 25 studies and over 470,000 participants, reading on paper is 6 to 8 times more effective in promoting text comprehension. Together, these two data indicate a loss of over 70% of the educational potential for our children. In other words, they could learn more than three times as much as they learn today".
"As Sanofi we are constantly committed to improving people's lives and generating growth in value, producing a positive impact for our people and the communities we serve - said Marcello Cattani, President and CEO of Sanofi Italia & Malta - We have chosen to support this publishing project because we firmly believe that investing in health education and self-care through correct lifestyles is the basis for building a healthier future for the entire community. In our country, prevention is still a cultural, social and economic challenge. Teaching children and their families the value of prevention is not only a commitment but a necessity to contribute to a more sustainable healthcare system and a more aware society".
“This new editorial project once again embodies Trenitalia's and the entire FS Group's commitment to health and inclusion and gives us the opportunity to take a further step towards a culture based on raising awareness and promoting prevention, which is essential for a healthy lifestyle,” said Mario Alovisi, Marketing & Revenue Management Director of Trenitalia. “Providing children with simple, engaging and accessible tools to introduce them to health education allows us to convey positive messages and a conscious approach that will accompany them as they grow.”
For Antonio D'Avino, national president of Fimp, "the first 1000 days in a child's life represent a decisive window for his future health. It is in this period that the foundations are laid for the prevention of many chronic diseases. In this sense, the family pediatrician has a key role as a guide for families towards the adoption of correct lifestyles and an active promoter of prevention, from nutrition to vaccinations, to protect the child's 360-degree well-being until adolescence. The 'Salute, Pinocchio!' project is a virtuous example of how health promotion can be done even for the youngest, in an accessible, fun and scientifically correct way".
