CERNOBBIO (Como) The historic rooms of Villa Erba are transformed into a journey dedicated to the director Luchino Visconti , between memory, narration and innovation. Over a hundred years after the construction of the house, commissioned by Anna Brivio and built between 1898 and 1901 by Luigi Erba, brother and heir of the pharmaceutical industrialist Carlo Erba, it was for decades the summer residence of her son Luchino Visconti, who found creative refuge here for his cinematographic work in his last years. Now the project "The Rooms of Luchino Visconti" intertwines the history of the villa with the stories of those who lived there. Six historic rooms on the first floor of the Villa Antica are transformed into a narrative journey capable of evoking emotions and images that cross the life and work of the director, as well as the identity of the villa itself. Cutting-edge digital technologies were used to create it: not a simple exhibition, therefore, but a real visual and sound story, which can be visited during special events or by reservation.

In the Room of History , vintage photographs and unpublished archive materials come back to life. In the Room of Time , a fully animated line that forms a film, leads visitors through the main stages of Luchino Visconti's life, up to the great international awards, such as the Palme d'Or at Cannes for The Leopard . The Room of Emotions offers a flow of images, sounds and atmospheres, in which some of his most famous works are retraced, while the Room of Landscapes transforms the space into a landscape with the shores of Lake Como and historic homes. Finally, the Room of Sounds and Stories is a sound installation, where the voices of the past mix with the silences of the villa, and the Room of Memory of Water celebrates one of the most recurring and symbolic elements in Visconti's cinema.
