'MTV had nothing left to say,' Siddhartha celebrates the end of a television era.

The announcement of the final closure of MTV 's music channels marked the end of an era for the entertainment industry. Starting December 31, 2025 , the channel that for decades defined the relationship between television and music will cease broadcasting, and for many artists, the event represents a moment of reflection on the changes in the way we listen to and consume music.
During a press conference in Guadalajara, where details of the new Hermoso Cariño Festival were presented, Guadalajara-born musician Siddhartha was questioned by EL INFORMADOR about the news. “I truly applaud it. I think MTV hasn't had anything to say for a long time, or at least the original idea of MTV has mutated so much that I don't know if I miss anything I stopped watching so long ago.”
For the singer, the network's decision is a natural consequence of a transformation that blurred the essence of the channel that once defined generations. "It went through so many stages since then that I think it's healthy that they stopped," he added.
However, he acknowledged that there is a legacy that will remain in the collective memory: MTV Unplugged, an emblematic format that gave rise to iconic recordings within the Latin American and global music scene. “Some things are lost. For example, I think MTV Unplugged was like a brand that gave a lot of music that stayed with us and is a somewhat legendary format for musicians. The only thing I can think about is that maybe that space with that importance no longer exists, but it hasn't existed for a long time, so right now I think it doesn't matter,” he expressed.
The singer of 00:00 and Únicos shared these statements during the presentation of the Hermoso Cariño Festival, which will celebrate its first edition on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Concha Acústica in Parque Agua Azul, one of Guadalajara's most iconic open-air venues.
The event will bring together a wide range of artists representing different genres and generations, including Siddhartha, Porter, Charles Ans, Gondwana, Hello Seahorse!, Tino el Pingüino, Ladrones and Agley , forming a lineup that focuses on musical diversity and Latin American talent.
