A traditional healer was murdered in Chiapas; he showed signs of torture.

TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ, Chis. (apro).- This Sunday, a traditional Tsotsil healer identified as Lorenzo Cruz González was brutally murdered in the municipality of Zinacantán, a town with deep cultural and spiritual roots, the State Attorney General's Office confirmed.
The man was found dead this afternoon at his home in the Bochojbó neighborhood of the municipal capital.
He was allegedly hanged in front of his altar while performing healing rituals.
According to local residents' testimonies, his feet were tied and he bore signs of torture. He was accompanied by candles, herbs, incense, and a bottle of soda that he used to perform the "cures."
The Indigenous Justice Prosecutor's Office reported that it is conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify the events and determine the whereabouts of the perpetrator(s).
In the Tsotsil village of the Los Altos region of Chiapas, Cruz González was accused of being “a witch doctor who charged a lot for his work and spells, both for good and bad things.”
Residents said Lorenzo began working as a traditional healer about ten years ago, during which time he made "a lot of money; he had vehicles, houses, and land. He went to the hills, to the crosses, and to the churches to do his work."
Other testimonies describe him as a respected figure who played an essential role in the health and well-being of his inhabitants, a healer renowned for his traditional practices.
Zinacantán is a Tsotsil municipality known for the preservation of its customs and worldview.
