Book Fair 2025: Today's Recommended Books, May 3

The second Saturday of the 49th Buenos Aires International Book Fair will open its doors at 2:00 p.m. with a range of offerings and activities not only for all ages but also for lovers of a wide variety of literary genres.

At the Clarín/Ñ cultural center at 3:30 p.m., a star-studded lineup will feature Maitena, who will revisit the stories of the women in her life through an open interview with Mariana Mactas. At 5 p.m., authors Santiago Talledo and Diego Vago will speak with Fermín Bo about Cero miligramos (Zero Milligrams) , the novel, and mental health in the first person.
At 6:30 p.m., another of the Fair's most anticipated guests: Spanish writer Javier Cercas , who wrote about his trip with Pope Francis to Mongolia, will speak with journalist Susana Reinoso.
And at 8:30 p.m., in the Ernesto Sábato room, another of the year's books will be featured: journalists Manuel Jove and Maia Jastreblansky will talk with Carlos Pagni and Diego Sehinkman about The Monk: The True Story of Santiago Caputo , the screenwriter of Milei.

In the new Youth Tribune at 2:00 PM, the topic of grooming will be discussed in an activity organized by the TikTok platform, featuring Hernán Navarro. Half an hour later, in the Horacio González room, presentations on mental health will be made with the participation of Federico García, Sol Chiara, Santi Talledo, and Diego Vano.
Also at 2:30 p.m., one of the most beloved authors among her readers will arrive at the Fair: Florencia Bonelli, who will present La Casa Neville 3. Yo soy el viento (The Neville House 3. I Am the Wind ). As every year, the author will be accompanied by a multitude of fans from all over the country, so if you want to hear her, you'll have to arrive early and get in line to enter the José Hernández room.

At 3 p.m., Amelie Theodil Deneu (ame.bookss), Oli (oli.lectora), Cami (rulitoslibros) and Valen Orden (vlogsdelectora), coordinated by Cris Alemany, will analyze how to get started on Bookstagram and Booktok in the Youth Forum.
And without straying far from technology, at the same time, a surprising activity: Nielsen vs. Botwill: "In 1993, Fogwill corrected Nielsen's text. At La Conjura, we developed Botwill, a Fogwill bot that corrects texts. Gustavo Nielsen chats with the bot to correct this very story and compare those corrections with those the real Fogwill made at the time," the organizers invite. It will be held in the Future Zone.

Four activities to choose from at 4 p.m., and it's hard to decide! First, there's the book presentation of Dolores 10 Minutes and Other Stories by playwright and writer Mauricio Kartun in the Adolfo Bioy Casares Room; and then there's the Tribute to María Elena Walsh in the Victoria Ocampo Room.
Meanwhile, in the Carlos Gorostiza Room, VR Editoras will invite Valeria Naya, María Laura Gambero, Sol Klinkenberg, Carolina Kenigstein, Christian Olmos, and Araceli Samudio to analyze Romantic Literature as an Exploration of Other Genres . And writer and illustrator Pablo Bernasconi will present Un cielo en el ojo (A Sky in the Eye ), his first illustrated poetry book for adults, alongside Reynaldo Sietecase, in the Tulio Halperín Donghi Room.

The afternoon also looks very interesting. At 5:30 p.m., Ludovica Squirru Dari will discuss the 2025 Chinese Horoscope in the Alfonsina Storni Room; in the Victoria Ocampo Room, Spanish author Rosa Montero will be interviewed by Hinde Pomeraniec about her novel Animales difícles (Difficult Animals ), the long-awaited conclusion to the Bruna Husky series; as part of the Latin American Writers' Dialogue , Guatemalan author Eduardo Halfon will present alongside Martín Kohan in the Julio Cortázar Room; and in the Rodolfo Walsh Room, Marina Mariasch, Cecilia Ferrairoa, and Santiago Craig will discuss family .

Later, at 7 p.m., another of the exterior views will take center stage: Spaniard Andrés Neuman will participate in the closing session of the Dialogues alongside Esther Cross, Fernanda Nicolini, Federico Bianchini, and Verónica Boix to analyze the return of literary biographies in the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Room.
At the same time, Mexican Fabio Morábito, Chilean Paulina Flores, and Argentine Hernán Ronsino will focus on the uniqueness of the everyday: "Far from grand narratives, today the secondary and the minor are taking on increasing prominence," explain the organizers of the talk, which will take place in the Alfonsina Storni Room.
Also at 7 p.m., journalist Jorge Fontevecchia will present Milei vs. Fonteveccia in the Victoria Ocampo room, while in the Carlos Gorostiza room, organized by the French Embassy in Argentina and Anagrama publishing house, Frenchman Patrick Boucheron will offer a lecture entitled "Dates that Made History."

There's still plenty to enjoy at the Book Fair at 7 p.m. In the Rodolfo Walsh Room, the book " Karina. The Sister. The Boss. The Sovereign" will be presented with journalists Victoria De Masi and Iván Schargrodsky; in the Ernesto Sabato Room, Cristian Sucksdorf and Débora Tajer will discuss the title "The Discomfort of Men in Times of Darkness."
In the Tulio Halperín Donghi Room, always at 7 p.m., Demian Rugna, Ever Orona, Mariano Cattaneo, Daniela Anselmo, and Ariel Bosi will try to answer the question: Who reads horror today? From niche to mainstream?; and one of the most popular events in the José Hernández Room: the presentation of the novel La muerte ajena (Other Death) by Claudia Piñeiro , who will be accompanied by Hinde Pomeraniec, Débora Mundani, and Cynthia Edul.
