Collaborations, exclusive tracks, and mystical themes: all the details on Lux, Rosalía's new album.

It promises an "immersive and innovative" experience, and judging by the details that are emerging, Rosalía 's new tour will more than achieve its goal. On Monday night, the Catalan superstar packed Madrid's Gran Vía to announce her new album, Lux , which will be released on November 7th.

Hundreds of fans joined Rosalía in the central Plaza de Callao for the announcement of her new project. Although not a single has been released from the project yet, Rosalía uploaded a score to her social media last week that will serve as the melody for one of her songs. In recent days, her followers have shared various videos with their instruments playing those notes. What has also been revealed is that one of the songs included in Lux , specifically a ballad, will serve as the soundtrack for the upcoming film Hamnet , based on the novel by Maggie O'Farrell and directed by Chloé Zhao, Oscar winner for Nomadland .

The Catalan singer's new album was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra , conducted by Daníel Bjarnason, and features numerous female collaborations. One of the most notable is Björk , with whom Rosalía already published Oral in November 2023. Also appearing on this album will be Portuguese fado singer Carminho ; Spaniards Estrella Morente and Silvia Pérez Cruz ; Mexican Yahritza , singer of Yahritza y su esencia; American Yves Tumor , experimental electronic producer; and members of the Escolania de Montserrat and the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana .

One of the comments her fan community had circulated in recent weeks was that Rosalía intended to delve into a religious theme, which had already been present in other tracks on her previous album, Motomami , such as Hentai and G3 N15. The image of her dressed in a white nun's cap and a dress—almost a straitjacket—of the same color only deepens this perception.

Spirituality as a driving force

Rosalía 's new phase will indeed address themes such as feminine mystique, transformation, and spirituality . As executive producer, in this album Rosalía traces "a broad emotional arc of feminine mystique, transformation, and transcendence, moving between intimacy and operatic scale to create a radiant world in which sound, language, and culture merge into one," announces the release presenting Lux .

Lux will thus be Rosalía's fourth studio album, following the success of Motomami and her international tour. The Catalan singer has only released a couple of collaborations in the last three years— New Woman with Lisa, Omega with Ralphie Choo, and Normal with Carolina Durante—and since September of last year, there hasn't been a trace of any music or anything she was working on. Until a few weeks ago, when some posts on her Instagram account suggested that her new project was imminent.

Last week, Rosalía participated in the Ràdio Noia podcast on Radio Primavera Sound, where she stated that this fourth album is the first she's approached "without fear of failure." However, her two latest releases, El mal querer and Motomami in particular, have already made her a world-class star. The first served to position the Catalan artist as one of the most important artists in our country. The second cemented her as a global star, capable of impacting the world with her music.

Four movements will structure this new album, which will include three exclusive tracks on its CD and vinyl editions to invite listeners to experience the album in its most immersive form. The Catalan superstar has already released the tracklist for Lux.
