Hearing of UAZ rector, accused of raping a minor, postponed

MEXICO CITY (apro) .- The court hearing for Rubén “N,” rector of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), who has been in preventive detention at the Cieneguillas prison since May 9, will resume next Thursday.
The rector faces charges of aggravated rape against a minor, according to the State Attorney General's Office.
On the 10th of this month, the indictment hearing was held in Courtroom 3 of the Control and Prosecution Court in the capital, where prosecutors informed Rubén "N" of the facts for which he is being investigated, based on a complaint filed in November 2024.
Judge Alfredo Sánchez Domínguez determined, at the request of the rector's defense, that the hearing will continue on Monday the 12th to determine whether or not to link the defendant to criminal proceedings.
However, the resumption of the hearing was rescheduled for Thursday the 15th at the request of the defendant's defense, who requested that the constitutional term of 144 hours be duplicated.
