Leak and controversy on the set of 'Torrente, Presidente' due to its Vox parody

Leak and controversy on the set of 'Torrente, Presidente' due to its Vox parody

"Why, based on a stolen image, reconstruct in your head and judge a film you haven't even seen?" writes Santiago Segura in X.

This is how the director, actor and screenwriter responded to the controversy sparked by the leak of an image from the filming of the movie Torrente, Presidente , which will be the sixth installment in the Torrente saga.

The film series, launched in 1998 with Torrente, the Dumb Arm of the Law , became a box office phenomenon and spawned four sequels. Featuring satirical and politically incorrect humor, the franchise parodies stereotypes of Spanish society and has grossed millions in theaters.

The leaked footage, shared by a TikTok user, shows Santiago Segura, dressed as his character Torrente , giving a speech from a balcony, from which hangs a banner with the word: NOX . An image that many have interpreted as a reference to and a parody of Santiago Abascal's party.

The barrage of criticism hasn't taken long to sink in. While some users emphasize that "given everything we're learning about the PSOE, calling the party NOX is an indecency and servility that's hard to match," others defend Segura's choice.

Although there's no official release date yet, Torrente, President is scheduled for release in 2026.
