The Madrid Crime Novel Festival 'Getafe Negro' , held in that town in Madrid, celebrates its coming of age this year , rejuvenated , with a chiaroscuro edition featuring Scandinavian countries .

More than 80 national and international authors will participate this year in the 18th edition of the festival, from October 18 to 26 , which will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the famous Millennium trilogy , by the Swedish writer Stieg Larsson , in an invitation to rethink the boom of the crime novel and the publishing and audiovisual phenomenon of crime fiction and non-fiction.
This exceptional event will bring together a large number of investigative, social, and crime journalists , who will discuss topics such as Artificial Intelligence and the limits of true crime, as highlighted by festival director Maica Rivera during the presentation of "Getafe Negro."
Over two weeks, more than sixty activities will take place—including roundtables, discussions, talks, lectures, podcasts, live radio, theater, film, concerts, board games, live role-playing, and book clubs—which will also address emerging trends.
Supernatural thrillers, developments in historical crime fiction, Nazi crime, urban thrillers, and rural noir, as well as cult literature and hybrids with other genres such as folk horror, will be featured this year at the festival, which will once again feature Spanish writer Lorenzo Silva as honorary curator .
Now coming of age, 'Getafe Negro' arrives with a program featuring prominent Spanish authors such as Clara Usón, Carlos Zanón, Susana Martín Gijón, Manu Marlasca, Luis Rendueles, and Carlos Augusto Casas.
Furthermore, demonstrating its international and, especially, European vocation, the festival maintains and attracts new alliances with the embassies of Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, the Polish Institute of Culture, the Institut Français de Madrid, and the British Council.
The Espace Mercat will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and will feature a meeting with French writer and screenwriter Olivier Norek, who was a lieutenant in the Seine-Saint-Denis judicial department, northeast of Paris.

Nor will the festival commemorating the 30th anniversary of the characters Bevilacqua and Chamorro , from Lorenzo Silva's crime saga, be forgotten; nor will the centenary of The Great Gatsby , by Francis Scott Fitzgerald , with easy reading as another innovation that's here to stay.
The 50th anniversary of Pasolini's death will also be anticipated, as well as the 30th anniversary of Dogme 95 and the 40th anniversary of John Hughes's The Breakfast Club .
Another highlight will be the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the literary saga The Chronicles of Narnia , by CS Lewis, with its epic battle of Good versus Evil.
