Spanish editors awarded the film 'Pedro Páramo' by Mexican director Rodrigo Prieto.

The film Pedro Páramo directed by the Mexican Rodrigo Prieto has been chosen by the Federation of Publishers' Guilds of Spain (FGEE) for the Liber Prize for the best audiovisual adaptation of a literary work.

Of the film, which was shot with a script by Spaniard Mateo Gil and aired on Netflix , the editors' guild highlighted that it offers a "contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary novel by Mexican author Juan Rulfo," respecting its complex narrative structure and literary richness.

The production also aims to bring the story of Juan Preciado and his journey to the town of Comala, where life and death intertwine in a striking metaphor for rural Mexico in the 20th century, closer to new generations .

Other award winners

The award for Promoting Reading in the Media went to journalist Antonio Martínez Asensio , director of the programs "One Book, One Hour" and "The Library" on the Spanish radio station SER.

For this award, the jury highlighted Martínez Asensio's programs dedicated to classics of world literature and new releases , as well as interviews with authors with an informative and entertaining approach.

The awards will be presented on October 9th at the International Book Fair, Liber 2025, which this year will be held in Madrid from October 7th to 9th.
