Miley Cyrus Subtly Addresses the End of Her Relationship With Liam Hemsworth
During a Q&A at Spotify’s Something Beautiful event this week, Miley Cyrus took a reflective moment to look back on her life and made a surprising revelation about the Woolsey fire that destroyed her and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s home in November 2018.
She considers it “the biggest blessing,” partly because it ultimately led to the end of their relationship. Just weeks after the fire, in December 2018, Hemsworth and Cyrus got married; however, by August 2019, Hemsworth filed for divorce, which was finalized in January 2020. Both have since moved on and have been dating their current partners for years. Cyrus and Maxx Morando were first linked in late 2021, while Hemsworth began dating Gabriella Brooks in December 2019.
During the interview, the host asked Cyrus what beautiful thing she would tell her younger self. Cyrus responded, “I think when my house burned down, that was the best...that was the biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life actually. And losing everything and being able to rebuild and to be able to be purposeful and choose every piece that I’m going to collect or also just about the people in my life.”
She then hinted at the end of her relationship with Hemsworth, adding, “And I guess for me, when my house burned down, a lot of my relationships—” she paused, giving the audience an exaggerated wink, before continuing, “also burned down. And that, again, just led me to such magic and to have so much gratitude.”
Cyrus shared that she would tell her younger self “to appreciate those darker times. Because, like I said, they are only leading you into the light.”
