Banksy has shown the world a new work. But there is one unknown

Banksy is back with a new piece. Less than a year after painting a series of animal murals in London, a photo of the street art master's new graffiti has appeared on the artist's official Instagram account. However, Banksy has not provided any clue as to where he painted the mural.

The latest work by the mysterious Bristol artist is a lonely lighthouse. The painted shadow of the lighthouse merges with a post on the pavement. The work is emblazoned with the slogan: "I want to be what you saw in me."

There has been speculation on social media that the work could be located on a street in Marseille , in the south of France.

British radio station LBC suggests that the quote used by Banksy could come from a song by Tennessee country band Lonestar titled "Softly", which features the lyrics: "I want to be what you saw in me. I want to love you the way you love me."

Banksy has created several animal-themed works in London over the past year, including silhouettes of elephants stretching their trunks out from windows and pelicans swallowing fish painted above an advertisement for a fish bar.

In December 2024, Banksy created another work, depicting the Madonna and Child . The artist used a rusty pipe protruding from the wall, which looks like a gunshot wound to the chest of Mary.

Banksy is known for his satirical graffiti that touches on political and social issues. Through his works, he often criticizes capitalism, war and environmental degradation. His works reach very high prices at auctions - in March, his work "Toxic Beach" was sold for 4.3 million pounds (over 21 million PLN) .
