Piotr Banach's musical jubilee

A strong Szczecin accent to start the musical concerts during this year's Żagle. On Friday, August 15, Piotr Banach will celebrate his double anniversary - his 60th birthday and 45 years of presence on stage - a composer, guitarist, lyricist, producer, whom we know from bands such as Hey and Indios Bravos. For 45 years of presence on stage, he has followed his own path, escaping genre pigeonholing and constantly expanding the boundaries of his work.

He made his debut in the late 70s, but gained nationwide recognition thanks to his work in the band Hey, of which he was a co-founder and first guitarist. It was Banach who was behind the characteristic sound of the debut album Fire (1993), which changed the face of Polish rock in the 90s.

After leaving Hey, he continued his musical journey as the leader of the Indios Bravos project – a unique combination of reggae, rock and electronics. For years, he was also an active producer, recordist and mentor of young artists. His solo achievements show a sensitive, experimental and brave artist in reaching for new forms of expression.

The year 2025 is a special moment for Banach – his 60th birthday and 45 years of his stage career. For this occasion, he has prepared a series of anniversary concerts, during which he reaches for his entire musical output. Together with invited guests – artists of different generations, with whom he shared the stage or whom he inspired – he will create a unique story with sound. Among the invited musicians was Kafi Ficaj – a vocalist and long-time companion of his stage path.

The Sails 2025 event will take place on August 15-17. The concert "Piotr Banach and Friends" is scheduled for Friday, on the main stage, which will be located at Jana z Kolna Street.
