Organized by the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, in its 14th edition, Open House has as guest curators this year the architect duo Daniela Sá and João Carmo Simões, who decided to create "something radical", as they explained at the event's presentation at the end of April.

Behind the concept of this edition, which will once again last a weekend, is the idea of the city "as a system capable of connecting everything" and that "allows living in community", highlighted the architect at the time, adding that the Open House's visit suggestions "allow a better understanding of these infrastructures that interconnect them".

The premieres on this year's edition's itinerary include notable spaces of the city's architecture such as the National Pantheon, the Vilalva Palace - Ombudsman's Office and the headquarters of the Camões Institute, but also others that stand out for their uniqueness, such as the Fronteira Palace and the Casa no Castelo apartment.

The Open House aims to generate knowledge and accessibility to the city's heritage through free visits to emblematic spaces of recognized architectural or heritage value, according to the organization.

The program also includes urban routes, with four new routes, accompanied by experts, special accessible visits to 21 spaces, sound tours and others dedicated to the junior public.

In 2016, Daniela Sá founded, together with João Carmo Simões, the publishing house Monade, specializing in publications on the subject of architecture, some of which have already won international awards.

Also on the Open House program for this edition will be the architecture studio RAR.STUDIO, the Santos Dumont Building, the archaeological center on Rua dos Correeiros, the Madalena 88 building, the British Cemetery and the Anglican Church of Saint George, the Boavista Gallery and an apartment on Rua Barbosa du Bocage.

A concept created in 1992 by Victoria Thornton, the Open House Worldwide network now has more than 60 cities around the world, such as London, Osaka, Thessaloniki, Zagreb and Buenos Aires.

In Lisbon, Open House has been held annually since 2012, co-organised by the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the Cultural Equipment and Entertainment Management Company/Lisboa Cultura, proposing the "discovery of spaces of different natures that demonstrate the decisive role of architecture in people's lives and exemplify the value of built heritage", the organisation emphasises.

In 2023, the Portuguese event became part of Open House Europe, a consortium that brings together 11 cultural organizations, and which this year focuses on the theme of architecture as a link between the past, present and future of cities.
