Photographer Maria José Palla has died. She was 81 years old.

M aria José Palla, who was a professor at Universidade Nova, died four days before her 82nd birthday. She lived in Paris, where she was exiled, and earned her doctorate at the Sorbonne University, with a thesis on the symbolism of costume in the work of Gil Vicente.
With a degree in Art History from the École du Louvre in Paris, she is the author of several books and articles on Gil Vicente, 16th-century theater and Portuguese Renaissance painting. She later dedicated herself to photography, having held several exhibitions in Portugal and abroad.
In the French capital he studied photography and cinema with filmmaker Jean Rouch (1917-2004).
Maria José Palla was born in Lisbon on July 30, 1943.
