In 2025, fraudsters began actively using a new multi-stage fraud scheme using the names of government agencies. As Roskomnadzor told RIA Novosti , criminals first call victims via messengers, posing as employees of the delivery service, and ask them to provide a code from an SMS to "verify data."

After receiving the code, the attackers break the connection and imitate a message from Roskomnadzor, supposedly warning about fraudulent actions of the "delivery service". Then, already posing as employees of the department, the scammers contact again and report the compromise of personal data.

To be more convincing, fraudsters can transfer victims to "employees" of the Central Bank, Rosfinmonitoring or law enforcement agencies, forcing them under various pretexts to take out a loan and transfer money to "safe accounts".

Earlier it was reported that a car dealer filed a lawsuit against a blogger who called him a "fraudster" and a "khokhol".
