In Russia, it is worth raising the age of youth to 40-45 years, since life expectancy in the country is increasing. This idea was supported by academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko, TASS reports.
"Before the war, the average life expectancy of the male population was 47 years, and now, even after Covid, women live 74 years, men 10 years less. Since life expectancy is increasing, it means that the boundaries need to be expanded," he noted.
Onishchenko cited several figures characterizing Russians by age. Thus, the active population is considered to be from 18 to 60 years old. The academician also notes that today many citizens of the Russian Federation work after 70.
According to him, by 2030 life expectancy should reach 78 years. And he believes that the age of youth should be increased. Currently, in Russia, people under 39 are considered young.
Earlier, MK wrote that in Russia they proposed raising the retirement age for young people to 40 years.
