Material loss in museum robbery is 88 million euros

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati commented on the robbery at the Louvre Museum.
Describing the robbery as a "serious attack on the historical heritage" of France, Dati spoke about the steps taken to address the security gap.
In this context, Dati emphasized that steps have been taken to modernize security cameras, overhaul all security control rooms in the museum, and install security systems around the museum, adding that the investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
On the other hand, Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau announced in the program she attended that the material damage to the Louvre Museum could be 88 million euros.
A robbery took place on the morning of October 19 at the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris, the capital of France, which hosts thousands of visitors every day and exhibits 35,000 works.
During the robbery, nine works of "priceless" value were stolen from the Apollo Gallery, where the royal jewels were exhibited. The crown belonging to Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, which was thought to have been dropped by the thieves during their escape, was later found damaged outside the museum.
The robbery of 4 thieves who escaped with 8 jewels of historical value lasted 7 minutes.
The preliminary report prepared by the Court of Accounts had determined that there were "continuous" and "significant" delays in providing the museum with technical equipment that complies with security standards, creating a security gap.
