Oscar-nominated actor dies at 73

The cause of death for Greene, who died from a long-standing illness, has not been disclosed. His manager said, "He was a man of great morality, ethics, and character, and he will be forever missed. You are free at last."

CHANGED PERCEPTIONS IN HOLLYWOOD

Greene gained international recognition for her portrayal of Zintka Nagwaka (Kicking Bird) in "Dances with Wolves," for which she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1991. The film was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 7.

Graham Greene was considered a trailblazer in the representation of Indigenous peoples in cinema. In an interview with the Canadian Theatre Museum in 2024, he addressed the problems of Indigenous representation in the industry with these words:

Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone bid farewell to Greene with an emotional message on Instagram:

"Graham Greene was one of the best at it. He made everything he was in better. Funnier. Deeper. Unforgettable."

Gil Birmingham, who also starred in the "Yellowstone" universe, expressed his "deep sadness" at Greene's passing. While the two did not appear together on the series, Greene played Spotted Eagle in the spin-off series 1883.
