The 4th Universal Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival has been launched: Cinema of the technological age...

Technology is advancing, artificial intelligence has begun to impact our lives, and staying ahead of these developments is like swimming against the current. Art is one of the fields most affected by technological and artificial intelligence developments. Whether utopia or dystopia, some of what has been written and drawn will become reality, and it's already starting to become so. You can give AI text and use it to create visuals or videos. They're even gradually reaching the level of filmmaking.

In light of all these developments, the Universal Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival, a first in Türkiye, will meet with moviegoers for the third time between September 29 and October 3 in Kadıköy, Istanbul.

The festival's launch was held the day before, and festival director Filiz Dağ delivered the opening speech. Dağ stated that they are determinedly continuing their journey with the goal of carrying science and art into the future, adding, "Our festival grows every year. One of our new awards is for best short film. We already have awards for short film produced with artificial intelligence, best director, and best actor. We're actually making a difference here with the acting. In science fiction and fantasy genres, the actor may not be human; they could be a robot, an animal, or an alien. Therefore, we eagerly await the jury's response to the best actor."

EXCITING PRODUCTIONS

Following Dağ's speech, festival artistic director Gizem Ertürk spoke. Ertürk stated, "I'd like to begin by emphasizing that focusing the competition on short films this year was a very good decision. We had the opportunity to watch some very powerful productions that touched upon exciting intellectual themes in the films submitted this year. Prominent names on this year's jury include Umut Şilan Oğurlu and Dilayda Güneş, who are particularly striking in the short film category for their directing and acting performances; Amon Blaze, who attracted attention with his artificial intelligence videos for Sezen Aksu songs; and Haktan Kaan İçel, one of the young generation's most accomplished film critics."
