This week in Izmir: Events filled with theater, ballet and concerts...

Izmir will host a culture and arts week from October 13-19, filled with ballet, theater, classical music concerts, exhibitions and talks.

Izmir State Opera and Ballet will present its ballet "Swan Lake" to art lovers at the Bornova Cultural Center Necdet Aydın Stage on October 14-16.

The Izmir State Theatre, which will present its plays to its audiences on different stages, will stage "The Picture of the Liar" at the Karşıyaka Ragıp Haykır Stage, and "The Strange Story of Rüstemoğlu Cemal" and "The Silver Skates" at the Bornova Cultural Center Bozkurt Kuruç Stage between October 14-18.

"Insect Hotel" will meet the audience on October 19th at Karşıyaka Foyer Stage.

The Izmir State Turkish World Dance and Music Ensemble will give its first concert of the season with the "October 29 Republic Day Special Concert" at Dokuz Eylül University Sabancı Cultural Palace on October 15.

The Izmir State Symphony Orchestra will hold a concert with conductor Orhun Orhan and soloist Ezgi Karakaya at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center on October 17.

EVENTS AT İKSF

Izmir Culture and Arts Factory (İKSF) will be highlighting its talks, trainings and art workshops throughout the week.

The "Non-Muslim Composers" music concert will be held on October 13th, and Alev Üstükarcı's "Explore Your Mind: Permanent Knowledge and Effective Learning Methods" training will be held on October 14th.

The seminar "Know Your Body: Breast Cancer and the Importance of Physical Activity," moderated by Yeliz Hastürk and featuring lecturer Dr. Ayşe Kayalı Vatansever as speakers, and Gülçin Bedi's talk titled "Thinking Like Leonardo Da Vinci" will be held on October 15th.

Prof. Dr. Binnur Gürler's talk titled "The Adventure of Glass in Ancient Times" and the "Autumn Trees, Leaves and Flowers" watercolor workshop will be held on October 16.

Ceyhan Demir will give his talk titled "Izmir Karataş Elevator and Lisbon Santa Justa Elevator: Similar History Over 100 Years" on October 17.

The group exhibition "Frames II", which opened on October 10 and features works by students of the Cartoon and Animation Department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts, can be seen at the East Gallery on the Ground Floor of the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center until October 30.

The Olten Philharmonic Orchestra will meet the audience at the Alhambra Stage on October 15th with conductor Jürjen Hempel and soloist Tosca Opdam for the first concert of the 2025-2026 season.
