Blackpink’s New Song ‘Jump’ Is About the Power of a Night Out With the Girls
On Saturday, Blackpink kicked off their Deadline World Tour in Seoul, surprising fans with a brand new track titled “JUMP.” The fast-paced anthem is an ode to a night out with the girls and a very catchy dance song. The lyrics celebrate going wild with your friends because a certain unspecified someone just can’t keep up.
They had an extensive setlist with their well-known hits as well, including tunes from the members’ solo albums.
The song begins with Rosé and Jisoo narrating to a person, perhaps an old flame, explaining that wild feeling that takes over at times, especially in a relationship:
I’m not that easy to tameUsed to see me out of these lights and my tears turned to iceThat’s the sweetest escapeEvery time that feeling kicks in, I might stay through the night
Then Jennie and Lisa come in with a chorus encouraging everyone to run up on the dance floor and JUMP:
Bet you’re getting it nowRock that DDU-DU DDU-DU nowwoah-oh-ohThink you're running thatGuess we’re going downI walk it, yeah, I talk it
So come up with me, I’ll take you highThat Primadonna spice up your lifeYou know I got that shit that you likeSo come with me, run up, uh, jump
Watch me running up the placeI’m already starting and my girls are on the wayWatch me opеn up the placeWanna see you bumping, baby, bouncing to the bass
The second verse is about sisterhood and never parking on the dance floor, leading to liberation:
Arе you not entertained? I ain’t gotta explainI’m with all of my sisters, got ‘em going insane (Yeah)You know we on a mission (Yeah), full gas, no brakes, yeahBreaking out of the system, breaking out of this cage, yeah
The chorus repeats before adding more to the theme of women dancing and jumping their feelings out:
Watch me burning up the placeI’m already starting and my girls are on the wayWatch me open up the placeWanna see you bumping, baby, bouncing to the bass
Finally, Blackpink promises, “In your area, area.”
