<i>Étoile</i> Season 2: Everything We Know

Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino’s Étoile packed a whole lot of plot and even more dialogue into the first eight episodes of season 1. But fans are ready to process more of the ballet drama’s intense storytelling, hoping for another season soon.

Here’s what we know about a season 2 of Étoile so far.

Prime Video already decided to renew Étoile for a second season, giving it a two season order when the show was picked up. In a statement from the Palladinos to The Hollywood Reporter in April 2023, they said, “Well, guess that plan for early retirement will have to wait. Instead, we’ve decided to embark on an international journey with an unbelievable group of players and the most talented ballet dancers in the world. We will sleep when we’re dead.”

The show follows two ballet companies in New York and Paris who are swapping dancers back-and-forth across the ocean. The finale ended with two of the main characters, Jack (Luke Kirby) and Cheyenne (Lou de Laâge), finally giving into their chemistry and enjoying a passionate kiss. This sets up an even more explicit love triangle between the pair and Genevieve (Charlotte Gainsbourg) for season 2.

“We knew that we were eventually gonna land on them at some point. We just didn’t exactly know where until we got a little deeper into the process,” Dan Palladino told Decider. “Lou and Luke are so good together. The thing is, Luke and Charlotte are so good together, that it does make it hard. They’re both smart, sharp women. They’re both difficult in their relationships, in their own way. And he’s both the right and the wrong man for both of them. So it’s kind of like the perfect love triangle, where none of them should be together.”

In addition to Kirby, de Laâge, and Gainsbourg, season 1 included Gideon Glick, Yanic Truesdale, David Alvarez, Ivan du Pontavice, Simon Callow, David Haig, and John Lam, so it is reasonable to expect they’ll be back for season 2.

There’s no news yet about production nor a release date for season 2.
