Portuguese bullfighter Manuel Trindade dies after being gored in Campo Pequeño

Lisbon 's Campo Pequeno bullring hosted a nighttime bullfight on Friday. Manuel Trindade was participating in the pega (the close encounter between the bullfighters and the bull) when a Vinhas bull charged him and violently slammed him into the boards, rendering the 22-year-old unconscious, according to Touro e Ouro.
After being treated at the plaza's infirmary, he was stabilized in an induced coma at Lisbon's San José Hospital and remained in the ICU overnight. Doctors hoped the brain swelling would subside, considering the next 72 hours crucial.
Unfortunately, the brain damage was irreversible, and he passed away this Saturday morning. Trindade was considered a promising young player among the Forcados, and was greatly admired by his peers.
The bullfighting world has gone into mourning, with numerous fans, associations, and bullfighters alike. Diego Ventura sent his condolences via X, as did Andrés Romero. The bullfighter from Huelva also fought in that Lisbon bullfight yesterday, alongside Trindade. This sad news serves as a reminder that everything that happens in the ring is real.
