The City of Buenos Aires hosts the first Meeting of Venezuelan Literature and Culture in the South

The city of Buenos Aires will host the first Meeting of Venezuelan Literature and Culture in the South, which will take place from next Thursday to Saturday at three venues, with free admission. The program includes lectures, book exhibitions, and the presentation of a new work , all seeking to highlight Venezuela's literary and artistic contribution to South American countries.
This is an international and independent event organized by a group of Venezuelan writers and academics residing in different countries in this part of the continent.
"It promises to be one of the most significant artistic and literary events of the Venezuelan diaspora to date," say the organizers, who have the sponsorship and support of the Doctorate in Latin American Literature and Cultural Criticism of the University of San Andrés (UdeSA) and the Faculty of Humanities of the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) , as well as the Venezuelan-Argentine Center "Araguaney" of the Civil Association Alianza por Venezuela and the Foundation for the Cultural Integration of Migrants (FICU).
Over three days, there will be a series of roundtable discussions where academics, writers, artists, and editors will discuss the challenges and opportunities of Venezuelan cultural production abroad.
They will also offer space to remember the importance of Argentine migration to Venezuela in the 1970s, as well as the Buenos Aires writer Sergio Chejfec (1956-2022), who produced a large part of his work during his stay in that country from 1990 to 2004, and in whose honor the first edition of this meeting has been designated "My Two Worlds", the title of one of his most famous novels.
In addition, the public will be able to purchase books from independent Venezuelan publishers in Buenos Aires. The Atlas of Venezuelan Culture in Buenos Aires will also be presented, an innovative project aimed at highlighting Venezuela's artistic and literary presence in the city. It includes, among other information, a catalog of works of art in Buenos Aires museums and a list of books by Venezuelan authors in Argentina between 2010 and 2025.
The event will close with a poetry recital led by renowned artist Igor Barreto , who will share his remarks from Caracas via videoconference.
The activities will take place over three days between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. , at the following locations:
- Thursday, August 21: University of San Andrés (British Arts Centre building, Suipacha 1333, classroom 201).
- Friday 22nd: National University of San Martín (Volta building, Presidente Roque Sáenz Peña Avenue 832, 4th floor, classroom 402).
- Saturday 23: Araguaney Venezuelan Argentine Center (Julián Álvarez 866, Villa Crespo).
