The seventh installment of the Steven Spielberg-created saga grossed $91 million in its first weekend in North America, beating Brad Pitt's F1 and the live-action How to Train Your Dragon .

Jurassic World: Renaissance , the latest installment in the blockbuster dinosaur saga, crushed the competition over the long July 4th holiday weekend at the North American box office, grossing a whopping $91.5 million. The Universal-produced film, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, is set in a research facility on an abandoned island in the original Jurassic Park theme park, where genetically modified dinosaurs are hiding.

"This is a great launch for the seventh installment of the series," said analyst David Gross of the specialist firm Franchise Entertainment Research. "The series has done particularly well abroad and so far, the international revenue has been remarkable," he added.
