Michele Zizza, author of the essay "Digitization, Disinformation, Destabilization" (Editoriale Scientifica), captivated audiences by addressing one of the most pressing and complex issues of our time: the impact of digital communication on contemporary society.
The first event took place in the evocative setting of Masseria Provenzani in Casalabate, where over one hundred people attended the meeting organized by the Galileo cultural association. The author was joined by two special guests: Alessandro Sterpa, director of the Academy of the University of Viterbo, and Roberta Rizzo, head of Rainews. The meeting sparked lively discussion between experts and the audience: from fake news to algorithmic mechanisms, from manipulation dynamics to the limits of journalism in the social media era, many topics emerged and questions were posed by an attentive and engaged audience. The interest generated was confirmed by the numerous copies signed by the author at the end of the evening.
The second event took place in the crowded Nardò square, during the fifteenth edition of the Salento Book Festival. The author was introduced by Maria Pia Romano, journalist and writer, who led the conversation with Zizza, touching on key points from the book and stimulating reflections on how digitalization is transforming not only the way we consume news, but also forms of democracy and civil participation.
The success of the two Salento meetings confirms the public's growing interest in a debate that can no longer be postponed: that of responsibility, truthfulness, and ethics in digital communication. Michele Zizza, a media sociologist, has successfully brought a complex topic to public spaces with clarity and academic rigor, transforming them into places of listening and awareness.
The tour of presentations will continue in the coming weeks with nationally significant stops, including the Etna Book Festival in Catania and Oltre il Festival in Friuli Venezia Giulia. This journey confirms the power of a book capable of sparking critical reflection in an age dominated by noise, speed, and hyperconnectivity.
