Journalists: Gianni Vasino, the face of football on TV, has died

Gianni Vasino died at the age of 88, very popular face of football on TV first on Rai, especially in 90° Minuto where he was one of the regular protagonists, and then in private broadcasting. For the Ligurian television broadcaster Telenord made a historic move: it recruited the cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, then Archbishop of Genoa and later Secretary of the Vatican State during the pontificate of Benedict XVI, as commentator for Sampdoria-Juventus (11 January 2004) and for Genoa-Turin. Born in Serravalle di Berra, in the Ferrara area on November 5, 1936, Vasino had moved with his family to Sanremo, where he moved his first steps in the world of journalism collaborating with some local newspapers. It was Paolo Valenti who wanted him in the team of 90º minuto, a show with which he achieved widespread fame. "We are saddened by the passing of a great professional who was part of our family television writing a memorable page with the commentaries at the Ferraris together with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone. We offer "Our condolences to the family are touching," he said the editor of Telenord Monti together with his father Alberto, founder of the group.
