Not Rembrandt, and not Klimt. This artist is most often copied by artificial intelligence.

Not Rembrandt, and not Klimt. This artist is most often copied by artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence , which should be a tool that makes our work and lives easier, most often helps us… generate beautiful and funny images . Of course, nothing comes from a vacuum, and when creating stunning graphics for social media, AI is inspired by – or even shamelessly copies – the works of real artists .

Whose talent, characters, and products are used most often? The creators of online video editor Kapwing decided to carefully review Midjourney 's data and see which names and franchises appear most frequently in prompts.

How did they accomplish this? The analytics team first compiled a list of keywords, such as artist names and media franchises . Then, using Discord Midjourney, the Kapwing team counted the number of prompts that contained these words.

Alfons Mucha is the most frequently prompted artist

You've probably wanted to edit your photo to resemble a Klimt or Monet painting. You're not the only one... The most frequently mentioned artist is Czech painter and graphic artist Alfons Mucha , whose name appeared in 230,794 prompts. Rembrandt , Leonardo da Vinci , Norman Rockwell, and the aforementioned Gustav Klimt also appear in the top five.

The top ten works most frequently used by AI also include a Polish creator - Karol Bąk.

When it comes to digital artists, fantasy creator Greg Rutkowski has been at the forefront. It's a sad state of affairs, as Rutkowski has repeatedly expressed his opposition to AI-based models using artists' work. He's co-authored a class-action lawsuit against Midjourney , DeviantArt, and Stability .

AI users love Wes Anderson and Star Wars

Let's move on to the world of film. What do you think? Whose style is most often used when playing with artificial intelligence ? It's probably an easy choice: Wes Anderson and Tim Burton . Where other directors distinguish themselves by tackling specific issues, distinctive senses of humor, or cinematic techniques, these two legends clearly win with their original and unique aesthetics.

Wes Anderson appears in 92,378 Midjourney prompts, and Tim Burton in 57,000. Roger Deakins , Christopher Nolan , and Ridley Scott have significantly fewer.

Still in the world of movies, let's move on to media franchises, where the world created by George Lucas , Star Wars, reigns supreme. Lightsaber-wielding Jedi Knights have defeated Batman , Titanic , The Lord of the Rings , and Pokémon .

Studio Ghibli AI version

There was a lot of buzz about AI-generated graphics inspired by Studio Ghibli's works at one point, and in fact, films like "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Spirit Away" appear in Kapwing's ranking of anime prompts, but Akira and Naruto are at the top.

When it comes to architects, Zaha Hadid was the most frequently requested artist, and New York was the city most frequently featured in Midjourney's graphics and videos. McDonald's literally ate up its competition when it came to fast-food brands.
