Austrian singer wins 2025 Eurovision Song Contest

Austrian singer wins 2025 Eurovision Song Contest

Austrian singer Johannes Pietsch, better known as "JJ", beat Israeli Yuval Raphael to become the champion of the 2025 edition of Eurovision.

The artist won the event held in Basel, Switzerland, with the song "Wasted Love", which combines operatic elements and high-pitched vocals.

In total, JJ won the coveted Eurovision trophy with a total of 436 votes, 154 of which were through the popular vote.

His song, which mixes opera, electronics and drama, also won over the professional jury present.

Austria has won the world's biggest music competition for the third time in its history. The last time was in 2014, when drag queen Conchita Wurst won the competition with "Rise Like a Phoenix".

Behind the Austrian and Israeli musicians, Estonia finished the competition in third place, with 356 points, one less than Israel. The song "Espresso Macchiato" by Tommy Cash became a hit on social media.

Italy was represented by underdog Lucio Corsi, runner-up at the Sanremo Festival, and finished his participation with a fifth place overall.
