Commercial spaces with Loulé's history host musical moments

Commercial spaces with Loulé's history host musical moments

For the final stage of 2025, the partners of the Historical Commerce Network, together with Loulé City Council and the Directorate-General for Economic Activities , will promote moments of meeting and leisure in their own spaces, helping to promote the traditional commerce that still prevails in the city of Loulé.

This program starts next Saturday, September 13th, at Mercearia Portuguesa (Rua José Fernandes Guerreiro, Nº 18), where there will be a musical moment with violinist Mariline Martins.

On October 12th, it's the turn of Loulé's legendary bar, Bafo de Baco (Rua Afonso de Albuquerque, No. 26/28), to host a show featuring Ana Newton Duo (vocals and guitar). The first chords will be heard at 4:00 p.m.

Ricardo Silva, on guitar, and Romeu Madeira, on violin, will be at ESPAL – Estabelecimentos Serra Produtos Alimentares (Rua Miguel Bombarda, No. 2), to liven up another space steeped in Loulé's commerce history. The event will take place on November 8th at 11:00 am.

Until the end of the year, several historic commercial spaces in Loulé will host musical events: Mercearia Portuguesa, Bafo de Baco, ESPAL and Café Calcinha.

At the end of this program, on December 13th, music will invade one of the city's landmarks , Café Calcinha. At 4:00 pm, Sérgio Leite, director of the Loulé Music Conservatory, will be at the piano for another musical experience.

It should be noted that all performances will last 40 minutes.

This initiative has free entry.

It should be noted that the promotion of this program in historic commercial spaces constitutes another contribution to enhancing the heritage and human wealth of the city of Loulé, where tradition continues to be very present in each of them, whether in the emblematic Café Calcinha, a meeting point for many Loulé residents over the decades, in the Mercearia Casa Portuguesa, where products that take us back to other times are still sold today, or in the iconic Bafo de Baco bar, a space that has been part of many national music tours and has introduced countless bands, or ESPAL, a store founded in the 1930s with the activity of wholesale food products.
